New Patch for World of Warcraft

On Tuesday morning at 2 am central, all WoW servers went down to prepare for a new patch that would make many changes. Since that time many people have been able to play with no problems once the servers came back up. I am not among them.

I have been working for almost 2 days straight trying to get everything updated including removing and re-installing the game multiple times. I currently have given up until I get a response from someone in tech support. I am hoping that I can get back in the game soon, otherwise I'll have to cancel our accounts and wait until we have new computers and hope that they will work better with it.

"Smart" Car?

I have been seeing a lot of hype about so-called Smart Cars. I look at the thing and think that if a mid level wind came along it would go flying off the road and if it was hit by something as harmful as a flying leaf it may not hold up. So, I did a little research.

It turns out that it apparently has a very good safety rating so that deals with that part of the issue. But, I still question if it's a smart decision. I used to sell Toyota's so I will go with them as a comparison. Let's look at the Toyota Corolla. They get about the same MPG. The both have excellent safety. That's about where the similarities end. The Corolla is thousands less to buy and seats 4 comfortably. Also, the fact that it has a back seat is important for anyone with kids as many states require them to be in the back seat of a car. Even when it isn't required, it's still safer.

If you don't like the Corolla because you think it's too big, then you can get the Yaris instead. It's basically the same as the Corolla, but has a smaller frame. Actually, it is the same frame as the older Corollas. It was made to address those who wanted a smaller economy car when the Corolla started to get much bigger, but they get about the same MPG.

Feel free to buy a Smart Car if you want to stand out or just think it's the coolest thing ever. But, other than that, go with something else that actually has some space in it and costs a lot less.

Would You Like Ketchup With That?

We went to Whataburger today like we often do, and they asked if we would like ketchup. As always our answer was 'No.' Well, for the 1st time ever they actually listened and didn't give us any ketchup.

I know, not some deep insight or truly meaningful post. Just something that totally surprised me.

Just some thoughts

So it's been a while since I last posted and I thought I should put something down since that's kinda the point of a blog.

I am currently working at a job I hate and really hoping that I will be able to leave in the near future. I don't really make enough there to make the job all that important. I'm not really sure what we are going to do at this point. I'm hoping for M. A. to find a job soon that she can enjoy. Since she actually has a degree she should be able to make a lot more than I do and that would free up a lot of time for me especially since I do almost all the cooking as it is and also help with laundry and dishes some. Her working would allow me to do all the cleaning and cooking and still have much more time for fun than I do now. It would also allow us to work on getting things fixed up around the house too. It would also give me some time to work out since I just don't seem to be able to find the energy now with all that I do.

Anyway, I'm going to go work on putting away the clean dishes and getting the dirty ones organized for them to be cleaned.

Just like new

Today I have reformatted my hard drive and set my computer up just like new. I have installed a couple of programs and will of course be installing World of Warcraft, I'm just waiting for one of the disks to get here. I let a friend borrow it so that he wouldn't have to download the whole thing from the website. Once I get done with my system, M.A. is thinking about doing the same with hers to get it working much faster and hopefully get the sound issues resolved. If she decides to install WoW on her computer again then we can finally play it together again. :) I would like that very much. I have missed her being there. I know she loves to play the game, but doesn't like to play on her own.

New Update

I don't really have much to say which is why I haven't updated. WoW is still fun and our guild is growing. My brother, who was out of work for a while has a job again. I still don't like having a job, I would much rather be running my own company. Or, even better is having a company that someone else runs while I give general guidance and get paid.

M.A. and I have started buying lottery tickets for fun. We only get one ticket for each draw so it's only $2 a week. And, no, you may not have/borrow any money from us when we win, lol. It's all going to investments and giving to charitable organizations. Well, most of it is. We will also be paying off all of our debts and buying a nicer house too.

Life

M.A. is job hunting so that we can get some additional income to work on paying off debts and buying some new laptops. Having looked at the job listings, I am thinking about applying for a new job. There are a lot places out there that are paying a lot more than I make now, and I can meet the requirements. The main drawback is that they require business attire and right now, I don't look good in anything that would qualify. So, I am going to hit the gym and drop some weight so that I can look good in nice cloths again, and then I will probably start looking for a new job too.

Update

I have a new shift at work and will be working a day shift for the first time in several years. I'm working the same days I have been, but I will be getting there at 7AM now.

I had a great Christmas, I got the newest expansion for World of Warcraft (WoW). I also got a new keyboard that is designed for the game. It's really nice to have. I have also loaded some add-ons for the game to make it a lot better.

On another note, I have started learning a little about Forex trading. So, I will soon be trading currencies throughout the world as another form of investing. I'll let you know more as this progresses.

I just thought I should post again since it's been a while. We have everything ready for our trip to M.A.'s dad's house for Thanksgiving. Well, with the exception of the laptops of course. I am happy to see her dad and step mom, but I will miss being able to just relax at home and play online. I will probably get a bit of reading done though so it's not all bad. I'm also hoping to clear off enough files from my computer to put on the 1st expansion to World of Warcraft so that I can do more with the game. I am also looking forward to getting a new laptop in the next few months hopefully so that I can load both expansions of the game.

Speaking of WoW, one of my co-workers is now playing on the same server as I am and we have been working together quite a bit. It has been a lot of fun. He's one of the few people I work with who I actually like to hang out with. He's also an interesting person in that he comes from another country, but he mostly grew up in the U.S. so he seems just like anyone else I know other than he thinks like a European. That works since I think that way a lot myself.

Anyway, I'm going to go to bed so that I'll be awake tomorrow for the trip out of town.

M.A. finally decided to try out World of Warcraft (WoW). She likes it and now the two of us can level up together. I'm very happy about that. Now the game that was a problem with us not spending enough time together is allow us to spend more time together and something else to talk about when we arn't playing.

WoW

I started playing World of Warcraft a couple weeks ago and am totaly loving it. If you havn't ever played it and you like to play PC games, then you should check out their 10 day free trial.

If you do decide to join and want to find me, just sign up on the "Uther" server. My main character is "Wisdomone", he is a paladin. I'm usually online around 3:30am - 5:00am Fri - Mon. On Tues - Thur I could be on anytime.

Paper Clips

3 words - WATCH THIS MOVIE

For those who don't know, "Paper Clips" is a documentary about a small town school that has built a memorial to the holocaust. The project was done almost entirely by the students. It all started because one student said that they had never seen 6 million of anything, so they decided to start collecting something that would have meaning for the project. They decided on paper clips because they were worn by non-Jews in some countries as a reminder of what the Jews were going through. It is a touching story and will bring most people to tears.

Make it a point to rent or buy this movie.

No Subject

I don't really have anything to post about today. I just thought that I should put something up to try to get into the habit of posting semi-regularly.

I'm off work for the weekend and for some reason I woke up after just 3.5 hours and was very awake. Although now after being up for about 5 hours I am starting to get tired so I'll probably go take a nap after I finish watching "Sweat Equity".

High School Reunion Part 2

We went to the second part of my reunion last night and the a/c wasn't working at that location either. Next time I plan to be on the committee who chooses where to have the events. I mean when two different places have no a/c there has got to be something wrong with the planning. Also, they were both places that I would never have thought to have an event. The Friday night event was at local restaurant that doesn't have enough parking or a big enough room for the number of people we had, and Saturday night was held at the zoo. What ever happened to using the school itself or a hotel? For that matter it could have been held at a great number of locations that are more accustomed to having events. In both places the food was OK, but not great. I happen to know a chef in the area that we can use next time. Next time I hope that we can schedule much better locations and better food.

We ended up leaving last night before the awards that we weren't going to win anyway. We didn't travel the farthest; we don't have any, much less the most, kids; no body art; etc. The whole event was less than desirable.

On the plus side, I did get to see a few people that I actually liked. And, one of the women is interested in talking to me later about some business related things, so I may even come out ahead financially from this weekend, which was way over priced for what was given.

High School Reunion Part 1

Last night my wife and I attended the 1st part of my 10 year high school reunion. It was pretty good. Unfortunately it was a little crowded in such a small room, and the a/c wasn't working, but it was nice to see some of the people that I haven't seen in a long time. I do have to say that I missed the women a lot more than the men, but what can I say, I love beautiful women. I'm just glad that I have wife who isn't jealous. She knows I'm always going to be with her.

It's amazing how little some of them have changed. And also how much some of them have changed. Two of the guys are pretty much the exact same as they were 10 years ago. One of them has matured some, but the other one hasn't changed in the least. By contrast one of the guys who used to wrestle for the school, and was also the school mascot is now fighting mixed martial arts. I guess that shouldn't be too surprising since Mikey Barnett used to come in to work out with the wrestlers and sometimes teach a little mma, to him and some others.

Then there is me. I have changed a lot since high school. My beliefs have been completely overhauled. I don't think at all like I used to and being around the people I went to school with has helped me to see just how much I have changed.

I hope to report back on tonights activities tomorrow, but we'll see.
